Asset Allocation Strategy - February 2022
This month the CIO focuses on rate hikes and what to expect. In short, they generally find that 1) the market reacts nervously at the onset of a rate hike cycle but give way to gains, 2) 10-year yields tend to rise before the first hike but not so much after and 3) the US dollar generally peaks as the Fed hikes, depreciating in the following 6 months.
Work Life Balance
Although some of us appreciate the convenience of working from home, studies have shown that during the pandemic, people in the US who were working from home were logging in 3 extra hours a day! In Canada, we seem to be able to balance things a bit better as 4 of our cities showed up in the top 20 globally for having the best work-life balance. Ontario has even passed new rules to help with work life balance.
